How To Use A Yoni Egg During Your Period

If you’re new to the Yoni egg practice you might wonder how to use a Yoni egg during your period. What I found out long ago is that my body answered this question for me.

In this article, I’ll share with you the importance of your connection to your body, your cycle and the messages your body gives you. And how listening to your body will answer the question of whether or not to use a Yoni egg during your period.

A Yoni egg can connect you
to the wisdom of your body.

Many women suffer from pain, lack of energy and cramping during their period. They don’t look forward to their monthly cycle. How is it for you? Do you dread your period? What type of relationship do you have with this rhythmic feminine cycle that is happening in your body?

When I first started using my egg I was a cycling woman. I loved my period. It was a sacred process in my body that I honored. When I stopped cycling I experienced a sense of grief, having to let go of this magical cleansing process that my body went through each month.

You may or may not feel that way. But honoring your cycle is an important way to get connected to the wisdom of your body and access your divine feminine. And using an egg in a sacred way will help you to do so.

Many women wonder if they should use a Yoni egg while they are on their period.

Your body will let you know.

Years ago when I first started using a yoni egg, the question of how to use a Yoni egg during your period was very clearly answered a few days before my period.

My body simply didn’t want to have my Yoni egg inside me during that time. So the answer of how to use a Yoni egg during your period is… don’t. I mean you can do whatever you want. If for some reason you feel compelled to wear or practice with your egg during your period then do so. But only if your body is telling you to do so… which I imagine “she” is not.

In order to know whether or not to use your Yoni egg during your period, listen to your body. What’s your body telling you? What’s “she” showing you? How’s “she” reacting to your Yoni egg? Are you sensing her and her needs?

If this previous paragraph sounds weird to you then you need to get real about your relationship with your feminine side, female anatomy and your relationship with pleasure. Pleasure is where your power is. Did you know that? How much do you love your body and allow sensual pleasure?

Tuning into the wisdom of your female anatomy is more empowering than trying to keep up with the impossible beauty standards put on women today. Let go of that “Beauty Pressure” and cultivate a deeper connection to your body and Yoni instead.

What I found was, shortly before my period, my body simply didn’t want my egg inside me. It was super magical. My body let me know and would not hold the egg in. It was really neat to feel and observe that awareness.

I simply listened to and honored my body’s message. I suggest you do the same. If your body releases the egg then don’t “shove” it back in. And that goes for any time, not just during your period.

During Your Period
there is a Release

When you’re on your period there is a downward motion, a release that is happening. Your body is wanting to let go and sluff off the uterine lining that has built up in its last cycle. Allow this process to happen. Enhance this process by tuning into the release and this feminine “letting go process.”

Take time for yourself. Slow down. Allow this time during your cycle to be a time of rest and relaxation. Give yourself and your body permission to just BE. This will also help you tap into the powerful wisdom your female body and menstrual cycle hold.

Your body is wiser than you can ever imagine. Your Yoni egg is a tool to get you more connected to that wisdom.

Now, I’d love to hear from you. In the comments below, let me know. What are your experiences with the Yoni egg before your period? What story do you have to share about tapping into the wisdom of your body?

My journey with the Yoni egg has powerfully changed my life. I want the same transformation for you with the yoni egg.

Wholeheartedly agree! I started using my egg for the first time a couple days before my cycle and it wouldn’t stay in

  2. Stephanie

I found your post because I started my cycle while my yoni egg is inserted. I
inserted it yesterday and then suddenly began my period today at the Full Moon. My body will not release the egg at all, I was worried it might interfere with my cycle, but I guess I will just let it hold the egg until it is ready to release. As my blood is still releasing as usual. Thank you

  3. Hi Stephanie,
Thanks for your comment and sharing what’s happening with you. I encourage all women to use a string when first using the egg so that at a moments notice you can pull your egg out if need be. How long have you been working with the egg? I only suggest using your egg without a string when you have learned how to push your egg out. With all of that said it looks like you are going to have to either push the egg out or wait until it comes out. But I would not suggest waiting a long time. The best way I have found to get your egg out if you don’t have a string attached and aren’t familiar with pushing it out is to sit on the toilet and push as if you are taking a bowel movement and hold your hand outside your vagina so that you can catch the egg. This should work. Please give that a try. Wishing you all the best. And thank you for sharing what you shared. Warmly, Anna-Thea

    Hi Stephanie, and Anna

I have also found your posts due to me starting my period after using my yoni egg. This is the 3rd time I have used my yoni egg and every morning after, I’ve got my period, even if its 11 days early! I am thoroughly connecting with this practice and eager to learn more about my relationship with my yoni and myself, I am wondering if this is my body’s way of saying it’s too much. I am practicing with Obsidian and even though I was heavily drawn to this egg above Jade or Rose Quartz, I have read that it is an advanced level and a very powerful stone.

Anna do you have any advice?

    Thank you

  5. Hi Holly,

Thanks for your comment and question. I don’t believe I can answer your question fully because I don’t fully know your situation. But for sure when using the egg every time you should be starting your period. I would definitely have that check out by a professional if that is a concern. The obsidian egg is the more advance egg so I do recommend starting first with the jade. But I also recommend honoring your intuition and what you were drawn to. I would say start off slow. Also, I am not sure what types of practices you are actually doing with the egg.
Soon I will be offering an online course that gives some very nurturing Divine Feminine practices so stay tuned for that.
Wish I could be of more help but without knowing your specifics it is hard for me to answer your question in any more detail. Hope that helped.
    Warmly,
    Anna-Thea
