Movement, breath and sound are so important. If we don’t move…. it is very easy to get stuck. If we don’t breathe we die and if we don’t sound well…….
Making Sounds During Movement is Healing
When coaching women I see how important breath, movement and sound are. When I coach women and have them do breath, movement and sound, I find it very interesting how many women have a hard time making sounds. When we realize the importance of making sounds during movement that is healing such as dance or yoga then there will be no stopping us. 🙂
I remember when I use to take a class years ago in San Francisco. It was when aerobics was very popular but this class was taught by professional dancers. It was so much fun to take the class and move and breathe with the music. I remember one teacher who was very loud and always encouraged us to scream and shout.
In the beginning it really bugged me. I was a bit annoyed with all of the hooting and hallering that he did and encouraged us to do. But somehow I liked his class none the less. I just wasn’t seeing why I should make all those stupid sounds.
Then one day I decided to open my mouth and do it…. exactly what he had been encouraging us to do. It was amazing! I felt so much more open. It was so much more fun. I experienced a deeper release of stress than I had ever experienced and felt like I had freed my soul! ……… I have not been silent since 🙂
