What is Kundalini? How Can Awakening it Benefit You?

What is Kundalini?

Kundalini is a powerful energy that sleeps at the based of your spine until awakened. It is a spiritual energy. And it’s also your sexual energy. Kundalini is a female energy sleeping in the sexual region of the human body, often stuck in the lower three chakras, keeping people dis-empowered and unaware.

What is the Purpose of Kundalini?

The purpose of Kundalini is to spiritually liberate you. To bring greater awareness to who you really are. This happens when you’re Kundalini is awakened.

It’s up to each individual to awaken it. It is your raw sexual energy, also referred to as Shakti. Another name for it is Holy Spirit.

It is an inner fire with tremendous force and potential. This powerful force has the ability to either bind or liberate you; it’s your choice.

Kundalini is described as a sleeping three-coiled serpent at the base of your spine. As long as this energy remains asleep, the individual soul is limited in his or her awareness.

What Happens After Kundalini
is Awakened?

This energy, when awakened and released from the base of the spine, moves upwards through the spine and the chakra systems. It clears blocks to awaken and expand your consciousness. You become more alive and experience more vitality.

The spine is the electrical circuit for your aliveness. The body contains many energy channels called nadis. These are energy channels that, when awakened, connect you to more subtle spiritual energies in your body.

According to Ayurveda (India’s traditional, system of medicine, over 5,000 years old, using diet, herbal treatment, and yogic breathing to support health), the body has 72,000 nadis.

These nadis radiate out from your chakras and communicate to all parts of your body. You are a stream of energy channels wanting to be opened!

Energy Channels in the Body

The three main nadis run up and down the spine. They are called Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna. The Ida and Pingali wrap around the spine and the chakras.

The Ida nadi is the feminine channel in your body, and the Pingali is the masculine channel in your body.

Balanced energy flow between these two nadis creates balance in your life. The Sushumna is in the center of the spine and is the channel through which the Kundalini, our spiritual energy rises through the body.

How to Awaken Kundalini Energy

Kundalini can be awakened through breath, movement, and sound. Kundalini yoga is a form of yoga that works with these three principles, incorporating physical exercises, breath, chants, and music to help accomplish this awakening.  Being the technology of awareness, I believe Kundalini yoga helps refine and spiritualize your sexual energy.

Kundalini is the blueprint of your full human potential. It’s the imprint of your soul’s purpose. You just need to get your emotional blocks out of the way.

When the Kundalini begins to rise through the central channel and move through the chakras, unresolved issues stuck in any of the chakras will surface. Just as our emotions tend to stir things up, Kundalini, this feminine energy moves up the spine and through the chakras, stirring up, waking up, and opening any blocks that are ready to be released. Kundalini represents the power of the feminine principle; a receptive and passionate energy. As our Kundalini, this feminine principle, moves up the spine, she undulates, similar to that of a snake or a woman dancing.

Is Kundalini Dangerous?

In religious traditions, this coiled serpent, this feminine energy, Kundalini has been depicted as evil or dangerous. It is not. It is not dangerous, but rather a threat to those who want to keep individuals down and unaware of their own power so they can be controlled.

In summary, Kundalini, this power divine feminine energy, when fully awakened, is how you free yourself from the restrictions of the physical world.

It is how you illuminate and activate your radiant body. Kudanlini awakening is the birthing of the divine feminine within us. Kundalini allows you to reclaim the sacredness of your body and feel empowered by feeling more alive.

This aliveness and greater vitality come through the process of opening to greater subtle energy awareness in your body. And this literally allows you to be in your body and experience it at a higher vibration and with a more expanded consciousness.

What is your Kundalini doing? Is it sleeping? Or is it moving through your chakras and bringing you to a higher level of awareness?
